About this unit
A dedicated Class D powder applied through a low-pressure applicator wand. Burning metals are hot enough to strip oxygen out of water and out of ordinary dry powder, which is why a standard extinguisher aimed at magnesium swarf produces an explosion rather than a knockdown.
The agent is applied as a gentle blanket, never a jet, to avoid scattering burning metal. Required wherever magnesium, sodium, potassium, titanium or fine aluminium swarf is machined or stored.
